AID Upstate is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who are responsible for steering the organization toward a sustainable future through sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure the nonprofit has adequate resources to advance its mission.

The organization’s board composition varies across time based on the needs of the organization and the skills and abilities of the current individuals serving. Consideration is given to needed skills or expertise; personal characteristics such as diversity of age, gender, sexual identity and orientation, race, and ethnicity; involvement with communities served and targeted for services when invitations are extended to serve.

Terms of service are 4-year periods and directors may be nominated to serve one additional consecutive term.
